There are a number of opportunities for residents to get together. Residents frequently spend time together outside of the hospital. Social activities include bowling, ice skating, happy hour, an annual Halloween party, book club, wine tasting, and much more! Family and friends are always welcome!
Every other month there is a Resident Support dinner. These are opportunities for residents to get together and share the stresses of resident life and offer support and advice (if needed) to one another. Food is provided.
For San Jose O’Connor Residents, work can be fun, too! Each year, there are 2 resident retreats where the faculty kindly offer to cover the hospital (and sometimes business is conducted on the beach).
Community Involvement
There are many opportunities for residents to get involved in the community. Residents help with medical coverage of local marathons, sporting events, and volunteer at Rotacare, a local free clinic. Residents also facilitate “Body Language” classes, a short series of courses aimed at educating the community about how to stay active and healthy.
