Welcome To Our Residency Web Site!
Thank you for your interest in the San Jose–O’Connor Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program. I hope our web site gives you a good feel for the people, clinical and learning environment that makes our Program such a wonderful place to train.
Our program is located close to downtown San Jose and provides medical care to a diverse population of patients from a wide range of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. San Jose is a large, flourishing metropolitan city and a part of the beautiful San Francisco Bay area. Cultural and recreational activities are outstanding throughout our area, made even better by our close proximity to the coast and the mountains, and our fabulous weather!
Our inpatient services are busy, and we are the only residency program here at O’Connor Hospital. Our practice includes a wide variety of medical, gynecologic, obstetrical, pediatric, and surgical patients. Our Family Health Center is a busy ,inviting clinic where we do full spectrum practice, with a focus on patient centered care. We are completely “wired” with EMR, and have special clinics and programs focusing on chronic illness management, behavioral sciences and clinical office procedures. We also proudly sponsor a Fellowship Program in Sports Medicine which adds clinical, community and sporting event coverage to our overall Program.
Our Program has an academic affiliation with Stanford University School of Medicine which is located 15 miles north of San Jose. Residents have ready access to the clinical and teaching resources of the Medical Center and University.
Historically, our Program had its roots in the now closed San Jose Medical Center. Our residency program was established in July of 1977, and has graduated close to 200 residents. In July 2005, our residency program physically moved to its new location here at O’Connor Hospital. We are fully accredited, and enjoy the full support of the large O’Connor Medical Staff, hospital administration and the surrounding community.
If you need additional information about our Program, please make sure to contact us and we will be happy to answer any questions that you may have about our residency program or the application process.
We look forward to sharing our enthusiasm with you.
Sincerely,
Robert M. Norman, MD
Program Director
